The Go-Betweens Format: Vinyl. out of 5 stars 21 ratings. Those who are familiar with the Go-Betweens' pre- "Before Hollywood" body of work are aware of the staggering amount of growth the band underwent since their debut, "Send Me a Lullaby." "BH" was the first Go-Betweens album I bought/heard, and I'd say it's a good intro to the /5(21).
You could certainly play 'Before Hollywood' directly after 'Blood on the Tracks' and notice all kinds of communion, you might even get a genuine sense of continuity. It's also a marked truism that the Go-Betweens creative rocketing mirrored the beginning of Dylan's decline/5(20).
· The Go-Betweens were already a good band well before they made Before Hollywood, but this second album is what proved for many listeners that they were good reason -- both Robert Forster's and Grant McLennan's singing sounds much more honestly theirs, finding their own voices, while collectively the trio create a series of intricate, surprising melodies and songs which /10().
